Help make Advice24 employees’ first call when seeking care

March 25, 2025

What happens when employees are unwell but uncertain about whether they should seek medical attention or where to go? They often postpone care, which can lead symptoms to worsen. Equally often, they go to a hospital ER, even when it’s unnecessary.

Advice24 can help employees make the right care decision at the right time. It’s available 24/7 to answer questions about medical needs and give guidance on how to address concerns. There’s no cost for employees to use Advice24, and it can potentially help them save money by avoiding costly, unnecessary hospital or office visits.

How it works: Your employees can contact Advice24 for around-the-clock support by calling the toll-free number on the back of their member ID card or, on plans that have it, using chat on asuris.com or the Asuris app. Advice24’s registered nurses will assess their symptoms and help them choose the right level of care:

  • Self-care: Employees may be able to manage minor health issues—such as mild headaches, minor cuts and scrapes, and seasonal allergies—at home using over-the-counter medications, rest and basic first aid.
  • Virtual care (telehealth): For colds, flu, sinus infections and a variety of other low-acuity needs, employees can use telehealth to get care from board-certified medical doctors. Telehealth is convenient and accessible from anywhere. Plus, it can cost less than in-person care. Doctor On Demand is embedded in fully insured plans for groups of 1-100 and available as a buy-up for fully insured groups of 101+ and self-funded groups. Many self-funded groups can access telehealth through MDLIVE. Telehealth also enables employees to conveniently access behavioral health care for anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance use disorder and more.
  • Urgent care: Advice24 may recommend urgent care for non-life-threatening issues like sprains, minor injuries or illnesses that need attention but aren't emergencies. At an urgent care clinic, employees will typically get care faster and pay less compared to a hospital ER. In some areas, they can even get a visit from an urgent care provider at home.
  • Emergency room (ER): This care is necessary for life-threatening emergencies, like severe injuries, chest pain or difficulty breathing. ERs can handle the most critical cases.

Advice24’s nurses can also provide specialist referrals based on the employee’s benefits. Depending on the situation, nurses follow up with employees to ensure they received the care and guidance needed.

Employees should sign in to asuris.com or use the Asuris app to explore all their care options. If your plan doesn’t include Advice24, please see this flyer to learn more and contact your account representative about offering it to your employees.
