Help employees access in-network care while traveling

June 25, 2024

Wherever your employees travel, it’s important they understand their benefits and know where to access care when they’re away from home. Share these tips to help them plan ahead before their next trip.

Benefits review: Before any vacation or business trip, employees should sign in at asuris.com (create an account) or download the Asuris app to review their benefits. An account gives them easy access to their health plan while away from home. Employees can find in-network doctors, access their virtual member ID card and have all their health insurance info at their fingertips.

Traveling in the U.S.: Your employees have access to MultiPlan, a national network of doctors, clinics and pharmacies, which gives them access to thousands of contracted providers across the country. By using this network, employees can save money on out-of-pocket health care costs and enjoy the added value of having in-network coverage, discounted services, balance-billing protection and a nationwide provider search. To find a provider outside the Asuris service area, employees can use the MultiPlan Provider Search tool.

Access virtual care: Virtual care is a convenient and affordable option when traveling in the U.S. Employees can visit with a doctor and get a diagnosis, treatment plan and prescription sent to the nearest pharmacy. If your plan includes Advice24, they can also talk to a registered nurse and get guidance anytime. Employees should sign in on asuris.com or the Asuris app to see their available virtual care options.

Outside the U.S.: Employees can receive medically necessary care when traveling internationally. Some plans include coverage, with some limitations, for nonemergency care when traveling outside the U.S. Employees will need to pay for treatment up front and submit claims to Asuris for reimbursement. They should check their benefits booklet or call the number on the back of their member ID card for details before traveling internationally.

Please share these tips with your employees, and contact your account representative with any questions.
